ABOUT OUR PRESENTERS

Jude JohnsonJude Johnson

  • Hamilton’s music Ambassador,
  • Woman of the year in the Arts,
  • recipient of the Hamilton arts award in Arts Education and Music,
  • inductee into the Hamilton Gallery of Distinction,
  • teaches “creative music” helping children discover and write songs from the heart.  

She has release 9 recordings, sung on countless albums and commercials, and has received many Ontario Arts Council awards for music over the years.

 

 

Rod NettagogRod Nettagog 
(‘Bluestone Cloud’, Ojibwe, Bear Clan)

Rod is from Henvey Inlet First Nation.  He has been singing, dancing, and drumming for 2 decades now.  He has been powwow M.C. on the French River, and is regularly invited to powwows and aboriginal cultural events with the Bluestonecloud Drum throughout Ontario and United States.

Rod has also been a featured Guest Artist with the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra, in the theatre production Gookom’s Purse, commissioned by the Métis Women’s Circle, and as ‘Bear Man’ with the Windsor Symphony Orchestra in the world première performance of Wezoowaad Anang (Shooting Star) – an orchestral theatre work honouring the memory, life and contribution of Shawnee leader, Tecumseh. Rod also portrayed a warrior in the documentary film – A Dessert Between Us and Them: South Western Ontario During the War of 1812 – commemorating the role of First Nations in the War of 1812.

Rod is now the Cultural Facilitator for Bluestonecloud a business that shares culture throughout the community, teaching traditional drumming and singing at hosted events and local schools.  Rod sits on the Youth and Elders Committee at the Aboriginal Health Centre in Hamilton (De dwa dehs nye>s), and also sits on powwow organizing committees in the Hamilton area (including ‘Protecting Mother Earth’) and in his home community.
