PRESENTATION DETAILS

Children from grades JK-5, will enter the gym and be guided into a sacred circle.

Dressed in full regalia, Rod Nettagog will start the program with a traditional smudge ceremony and explain his exquisite clothing and the story behind the imagery and what each object represents in his Ojibway culture.  Nettagog will explain the significance of the circle and demonstrate the hand drum, which represents the heartbeat.  He will also sing a traditional song of healing. (20 minutes)
 
Nettagog and Jude Johnson will teach a simple 1-2 intertribal step dance to the group while the powerful aboriginal music is playing.  Participants will then be taught the “sneak up” dance and a few other simple aboriginal powwow dances. (15 minutes)

After settling into the sacred circle once again Johnson will recite the story “The Song Within my Heart”. (15 minutes)

The program will close with a question and answer period initialed by Nettagog and Johnson and a Farewell Blessing. (10 minutes)
